The procedure entails the removal of the infected nerve, cleaning the tooth of any infected pulp, and filling it with an antibiotic substance. Later, the tooth will be covered with a dental crown.

When the procedure is completed, your tooth may be a little sensitive due to the inflammation from the infection. The sensitivity can be treated with an over-the-counter pain medication such as ibuprofen.
